Shame and guilt are the keys to everything. These energies are the root cause of all the emotional, mental, and spiritual problems you face. Shame is in the unconscious mind. It makes you feel you are not good enough and you cannot escape from it. Guilt is in the conscious mind. It makes you feel that you are not good enough because you did something wrong to someone.
Shame and guilt are not emotions, they are energies. They activate our emotions. Shame and guilt change our positive emotions into negative ones. Let’s say if you have compassion, shame and guilt energy will turn it into depression.
The Shame and Guilt Virus
Shame and guilt are the same negative energy. Some people say shame is bad and guilt is good. Guilt makes us moral. Do good things not because you are guilty, but because it is the right thing to do.
If you have a virus in your brain, it is called meningitis. If you have the same virus in your stomach, it is called gastritis. If the same virus is in your lungs, it is pneumonia. The same is true in the case of shame and guilt. It is the same virus, but it is in different locations, so people call it by different names. You cannot get rid of guilt until you get rid of the shame that is causing it.
How do shame and guilt affect us?
When someone shames you, you feel hurt. It is not your fault; they are throwing their shame and guilt at you that they have been carrying. They transfer it to you. It is the urge of an abuser to shame somebody to get rid of the shame and guilt he is carrying. All you have to do is repent of this shame and guilt. When someone is shaming you, just say to them that it is interesting to hear. In this way, you will be able to repent of the shame and guilt that other people are putting on you. If you start arguing with that person, you will start feeling shame and guilt.

Never own your shame and guilt. Do not say my shame or my guilt. In this way, you are owning your shame and guilt. Remove shame and guilt from your normal vocabulary.

Talking to your inner critic will help you to get rid of shame and guilt. Your inner critic is stuck in the 1950s when someone bullied you or shamed you. Talk to your inner critic and try to bring it into 2022. This will help you to release the shame and guilt you are carrying. Always appreciate yourself, always say I am good to yourself.
